Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? at any time to see the list inside the app (outside a text field).

On macOS, Cmd works wherever this page says Ctrl. The app’s own labels always say Ctrl.

Keys Action
Ctrl+K Command palette
Ctrl+O Open FCS files
Ctrl+S Save workspace
Ctrl+Shift+O Open workspace
? Keyboard shortcuts
Escape Close dialog / exit drill-down / cancel a drawing

Ctrl+K is the one worth learning first — it reaches anything you can name without hunting through menus. In the palette, the arrow keys move, Enter runs the command and Escape closes it.

Keys Action
Ctrl+Z Undo gate change
Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z Redo gate change
Delete or Backspace Delete selected gate — no confirmation; undo restores it
Double-click gate Drill down into gate
Escape Navigate up from drill-down
Double-click a gate’s name in the gate list Rename gate (Enter keeps, Escape cancels)

Escape goes up from a drill-down only when the layout shows a single plot; with several plots, use the Go up button above the plot.

To abandon a gate part-way through drawing, press Escape or click the Navigate tool (the cursor) in the gating toolbar. While you are drawing, Escape cancels the drawing rather than going up from a drill-down; in a text field or an open dialog it does neither.

On scatter, density, contour and zebra plots:

Keys Action
Scroll wheel Zoom in / out
Click and drag Pan (in navigate mode)
Double-click empty space Reset zoom

While drawing a polygon, a double-click closes the shape instead.

Keys Action
Ctrl+Click Select several files
Double-click file Rename file (Enter keeps, Escape cancels)

Selecting several files offers Apply Gates, Apply Comp and Close for the selection. See The interface.
